Vac-u-form
Table Project: Thurston James' Design |
|
The Gas Oven design:
Thanks
to Paul, Prop_Master for sharing with us his version of the Thurston
James Vac-u-form Machine. Paul uses a oven made of Asbestolux, a
gas cylinder and a burner set below a blast shield. His diagram
shows a 4 burner set-up but single burner version will work too.
Here is a quote from Paul:
"It
is a gas oven with a half inch 'impact burner',that is inside a
box built of 18 guage sheet steel that is riveted together. It tapers
at the top and measures 24" square at the opening. The base
of the oven is 28" square. It is lined with a fire resistant
board called Asbestolux. It also has a lid made of steel with the
liner attached. It has a blast sheild above the burner to spread
out the heat and it works a great!"
And
some measurements:
"The
gas burners are 1.5" above the oven floor, with the shield 4"
from the floor.
The shield is 16" square and has perforations in the middle.
It is also 12" from the opening at the top.
The oven is 27" square and 16" tall, and the opening is
23" square."
Thanks
Paul!
